Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before your dog's first visit. Still curious? Get in touch.
What vaccinations does my dog need?
All guests must be current on Rabies, DHPP (distemper/parvo), and Bordetella (kennel cough). We also recommend the Canine Influenza vaccine. You can upload records during booking or have your vet email them to us before your first visit.
Do you require a meet & greet before boarding?
Yes — every new dog comes in for a free temperament assessment and facility tour before their first overnight stay or daycare day. It lets us match your dog to the right play group and helps them feel at home.
Is the facility really cage-free?
For play and rest, yes. Dogs spend their days in supervised, temperament-matched groups and sleep in private, climate-controlled suites with real beds — not stacked wire kennels. Suites are used for sleeping, meals, and rest breaks.
What should I pack for an overnight stay?
Bring your dog's regular food (portioned by meal is ideal), any medications with instructions, and one comfort item like a blanket or toy. We provide beds, bowls, and plenty of toys. Please label anything you'd like returned.
How are dogs grouped for play?
We sort guests by size, age, energy level, and play style into small groups, each with a dedicated handler who stays in the group all day. Shy or senior dogs can join calmer groups or enjoy more solo time.
Can I see my dog while I’m away?
Absolutely. Every boarding guest gets a daily photo text, and Deluxe and Luxury suites include live webcam access so you can check in anytime. Just ask and we’ll send extra updates whenever you like.
Do you give medications?
Yes. Our trained staff administer pills, drops, topicals, and injections at no extra charge for simple oral meds; specialized administration is a small daily add-on. Just bring clear instructions and we’ll handle the rest.
What are your check-in and check-out times?
Standard check-in and check-out is by 11:00 AM. Late checkout (by 4:00 PM) is available for a half-day daycare rate, and the Tail-Wagger Weekend package includes complimentary Sunday late checkout.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel up to 48 hours before check-in for a full refund. Inside 48 hours we credit your account for a future stay. Holiday-period bookings require a 7-day notice due to high demand.
Do you board intact, senior, or special-needs dogs?
We welcome seniors and most special-needs guests and tailor their care plan. Intact dogs over 7 months are evaluated case-by-case for group play; they can always enjoy boarding with solo play sessions.
How far in advance should I book?
For weekdays, a day or two is usually fine. Weekends, summer, and holidays book up fast — we recommend reserving 2–3 weeks ahead, and as early as possible for Thanksgiving and the December holidays.
Where are you located and is parking easy?
We’re on Rosecrans Street in Point Loma, about five minutes from San Diego International Airport and the bay. There’s a dedicated drop-off lane and free lot parking right out front.
